Park Slope accountant Victoria Brush has a keen interest in helping people. She understands that dealing with taxes and financial matters can be a bit intimidating and that the end result of her work impacts people’s lives. Victoria believes that clients aren’t just numbers, she enjoys getting to know them and goes the extra mile to explain what’s happening with their financial situations, to help them understand relevant tax rules, and if they owe money to the government, why.
Victoria honed her skills while working as the bookkeeper for a small natural foods company and later as an account manager at a midtown accounting firm specializing in the music industry. She started her Manhattan practice in 1991. Two years later she set up shop in Park Slope, earned her EA* license, and continued to provide quality tax preparation and bookkeeping services for individuals and small businesses.
Victoria has always enjoyed math and developed a healthy respect for the value of money at the tender age of 12, when her parents gave her the responsibility of paying for her own expenses from a small monthly allowance. She took the responsibility seriously and performed well, even lending money to her mother on occasion when the family’s money got tight.
Knowledgeable, experienced and personable, with a high level of integrity, Victoria has an organized approach to looking at and analyzing numbers. She thinks of tax returns as puzzles and enjoys putting the pieces together. Although tax laws can be quirky and sometimes unfair, Victoria’s breadth of knowledge helps her determine how to use them to your best advantage.
The daughter of secular missionaries, Victoria spent 10 years of her childhood living in Pakistan and India. Concerned that their children wouldn’t fit back into the American system, Victoria’s parents along with some other Americans started the Lahore American School in Lahore, Pakistan, adopting a homeschooling curriculum. Despite some culture shock when Victoria’s family returned to the States, the schooling choice was a success, and Victoria excelled academically.
A woman of many interests, Victoria’s creative pursuits include photography and painting. A long-suffering Mets fan, animal lover and enjoys biking, traveling and exploring the myriad adventures that New York City has to offer.
